it’s ok

sometimes we cry and sometimes we laugh. life is not always going to be sunshine and rainbows. yes, I believe happiness and peace can and should be our consistent state of living, but it’s ok to acknowledge and work through the tough emotions and pain too. and not in the way others normally think of working through pain and negativity. i’ve found that it’s ok to live in a moment of sadness. it’s ok to take some time to feel that pain. feel the sadness, the anger, the tears, the literal heartache.

our culture doesn’t teach us how to properly process pain. we’re either told to bury it or, if you’re a Christian, acknowledge you have an emotion (not the same as feeling an emotion), but then quickly push past it and keep living. even though it isn’t fun, feeling the emotion and being completely ok with it being there is how you can start to address and work through the pain… the right way.

let’s stop burying it. let’s stop staying silent. let’s stop feeling guilty for crying or feeling sad over a disappointing situation. we were born with emotions and it’s ok to feel them. let’s stop burying our grief and pain and let’s start feeling like we as humans were designed to do.
